Social media=Savings
Most of us use social media tools to keep up with friends and family, but did you know these tools can be invaluable for keeping up to date on all the latest and greatest in the way of savings. There are numerous facebook, twitter, and pinterest pages available to follow or friend, and most will at the least inform you of great places to save while others give you "members only" discounts and coupon savings. Take a little time and look for a few today, and don't forget to find @discountduchess available for local and national deals posted as I find them.

Back to school shopping 101
Even though the sun is blazing, the grills are heated and the calendar still says its summer, school is right around the corner. Most of us have started stcokpiling pencils, crayolas, and will soon have enough ziploc bags in the pantry to cover every square inch of the house. But if you really want to save I say factor in a few extra dollars for clearance finds along the way. Summer clothes really can last your kids several months into the start of the school year, but while you have the kids picking backpacks and lunchtotes if you can snag a toy or two to put in the closet for an ineveitable birthday or Christmas need now you will thank yourself later. While looking around at the Sears Outlet today, I spotted this great deal below. Check out the tag, $75 coat for $15 brand new! Now obviously I am a big fan of used or previously owned kids clothes, at this price even the baby can have new.
Members Only if you please
Anyone who uses four wheels, not including roller skates, knows that finding ways to discount usage and spending is a top priority. Well, for those of you who are only using big box clubs for a years supply of toilet paper, think again. This week I stopped by my favorite Costco, and skipped the churro, but to my pleasant surprise snagged myself a $.30 on the gallon discount on gas! No tricks necessary, just scanned my card, swiped the debit card and Voila. While gas here is not always that big of a savings, can generally save a few pinnies on the gallon or more, and one big haul like this per month and I have more than paid for the membership. Added tip for wholesale clubs, share the membership with a buddy. Generally, you can get two cards for each membership and you and your sister, or work friend, or neighbor can split the cost and even split the products at times.
Help, I need to save money! Now what???
Being a naturally frugal person, I hear people say things like this all the time. "Couponing is too much work?" or "Who has time for all that clipping and running from store to store?" While these are good intentioned individuals they are making the number one mistake, getting overwhelmed. My suggestion is always the same to beginners, start small and work in as many tips as you can. If you know you spend $5 every morning for your liquid energy from Starbucks, start with trimming that. Perhaps for you skipping the coffee would be a fate worse than death, but maybe you could opt to have it every other day or look at purchasing discount gift cards to stretch that dollar. Either way, you've saved and you can feel good about taking the first step in the right direction. Happy saving!

I'm so excited to share all of the things that I have come across in my journey to live my best life for as little money as possible. By fine tuning the way we earn, stretch, and enjoy the money we have in this life I firmly believe we can have great lives in the simpliest and most authentic ways. I look forward to sharing every adventure and treasure that I encounter.
